How can acupuncture in Mission Viejo help you?

Acupuncture therapy is a technique of alternative medicine that has been used for centuries in the treatment of various physical and mental health conditions. Acupuncture has been used by traditional Chinese healers to help regulate the flow of qi (or chi) in our bodies. They believe that chi is the energy current flowing through our bodies to keep us overall healthy. When our chi is imbalanced, we feel sick, fatigued, or easily stressed out. Acupuncture helps to bring back balance to the flow of chi in our bodies, along with practicing healthy habits that take care of our bodies such as getting enough sleep and eating well.

Acupuncture has grown immensely popular especially because it offers effective but non-invasive treatment to a variety of conditions – from the most common ailments to chronic illnesses. These conditions include issues with fertility, psychological problems, chronic body pains and headaches, neurological disorders, and others.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Treatment and relief are achieved with the help of our licensed specialists by placing fine, metallic needles in targeted acupuncture points (“acupoints”) in your body to elicit desired physiological responses. Sometimes, this is done along with electrical stimulation and the application of heat. In addition, acupuncture can be combined with functional medicine for your optimal medical care.

Invest in your health and experience the benefits of Acupuncture in Mission Viejo, CA.

The cost of acupuncture will vary depending on the specific location to be treated, the techniques involved, and the number of sessions recommended based on the doctor’s evaluation. During your initial consultation, the acupuncture clinic will be able to provide an estimate of the fees, but all things considered, fees will be at reasonable prices.

Are there other methods aside from needle insertions?

Yes. There are different treatment techniques that acupuncturists use to relieve your pain and treat your condition. Below are the alternative techniques our acupuncture clinic uses besides acupuncture:

  • Acupressure – carefully applying pressure in certain acupoints in our bodies to help regulate stuck chi
  • The use of cupping technique – this method makes use of cups that are ‘suctions’ to help improve the body’s processes and blood circulation
  • Tuina (or tui-na) – a form of massage used in traditional Chinese medicine targeting pressure points and done with varying degrees of speed and force. The Tuina massage technique can be administered gently or as deep-tissue massage.
  • Infrared heat and Moxibustion – this is also a technique used in traditional Chinese medicine where the doctor burns moxa (made up of mugwort leaves) on or near your acupoints to help stimulate your chi flow.
  • Herbal Therapy – lastly, the doctor may provide you with herbal/ natural medicine to help complement your treatments.

You may initially feel intimidated by the use of needles in acupuncture, but you’ll be surprised to know that majority of acupuncture patients actually don’t feel pain at all during the treatment. Most patients feel slight pressure, itchiness, or a quick pinch to the area that is being treated. If you do feel pain, it is only very minimal and will usually go away after the first few sessions. Patients even report feeling very relaxed and some fall asleep during treatment.

Acupuncture in Mission Viejo: Preparing for your first acupuncture visit

Interested in your initial visit? Here are some of the things you can do to help you prepare for your consultation:

  • Don’t eat a heavy meal before your first visit – eating a heavy meal can make you feel uncomfortable during acupuncture. Some experts recommend eating a moderate meal two hours before your scheduled treatment.
  • Inform the doctor about the current medications that you are taking – as your doctor may provide herbal medicine or supplements to help aid treatment, it’s helpful to inform him ahead of any current medications you’re already taking. This is to prevent any negative medication interactions from happening.
  • Get enough rest and don’t do anything too stressful beforehand – acupuncture aims to make your body feel more relaxed, so getting enough sleep and rest during the night will help prepare your mind and body for the treatment.
Now, you’re ready to schedule your initial visit!

Mission Viejo is considered one of the largest and most successful master-planned cities in the U.S. and it is located within South Orange County, CA in the Saddleback Valley. The city is mainly a commuter city with its suburban neighborhood and residential areas. It got its name as a reference to Rancho Mission Viejo which is part of a Spanish land grant where the city was founded. Before it was developed, the hilly region of Mission Viejo was widely used for grazing cattle and sheep since it was hard for farmers to use the land for planting due to its complex geographical location. However, in the 1960s, a blueprint of the carefully planned city of Mission Viejo was created by Donald Bren, which would include residential homes, schools, and recreational parks that made use of the contoured geography of the area giving birth to what is now considered one of the best places to live in the U.S.

The city of Mission Viejo has a population of over 100,000 as of 2019, and it is considered an upscale location to live in with a median household income of $119,798. In 2007, it was named as the safest city to live in the United States by the Morgan Quitno Press, and just recently, it was also part of the Top 50 best places to live in the country. With its good schools, homey residential areas, and sunny weather, Mission Viejo is indeed an ideal place for families

Even if it is mainly a residential area, Mission Viejo still offers many attractions and annual events for both tourists and residents alike. The top shopping centers in the city are the Kaleidoscope Courtyards and The Shops at Mission Viejo (previously known as Mission Viejo mall) where they provide family-centered shops and services to mainly upper-middle-class customers. If you are looking for outdoor activities, the city has many recreational areas including a man-made lake at the heart of the city, Lake Mission Viejo. They also have three golf courses to choose from: The Mission Viejo Country Club, Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club, and the Casta del Sol Golf Course.

If you are into sports, the city has a major youth athletic facility – the Mission Viejo Youth Athletic Park which includes five soccer fields and eight baseball fields. Its athletic park hosts four soccer clubs, namely Pateadores Soccer Club, Mission Viejo Soccer Club, West Coast Futbol Club, and Saddleback United Soccer Club. Aside from this, it is also home to Mission Viejo Nadadores, one of the best and largest diving and swimming clubs in the country. It’s clear that the city gives importance for sports to flourish, especially that it has produced many notable athletes, Olympians, and world-record holders including Olympic swimming champions Brian Goodell and Shirley Babashoff, and NFL players Mark Sanchez and Phil Hughes among many others.

The city holds different annual and recurring events such as an annual street parade and fireworks show for families to enjoy as part of the July 4th holiday celebration, and an annual street painting festival of the arts where artists from all over decorate the asphalt using only pastel chalk as their art medium. The city offers seasonal interactive activities and events for the public such as the Holiday Lights Display put up by the neighborhood during the winter holiday season. Mission Viejo also hosts various sports events throughout the year such as 5K races and runs, and cycling events

Similar to most of its neighboring cities within the Saddleback Valley, the climate in Mission Viejo is generally mild with plenty of sunshine throughout the year. Their rainfall is usually within the months of November to March and their summer temperatures are very dry.
