BRING YOUR MEDICAL HISTORY
A good way to prepare for your acupuncture appointment is to remember your medical history or better, bring a copy. By doing this, it will help you answer questions your acupuncturist may have. In addition, it will help your acupuncturist determine what type of treatments you can receive because of the type of medication you may be taking or past health concerns.
EAT
Before you go to your appointment, it is recommended to eat something light. This will help you go through the session. The session may be long and you might be distracted by hunger. In some cases, you may feel lightheaded or even faint during the session. If you are going to eat something big, you should eat it 2 hours before so you don’t feel too full and have a case of food coma.
TRY NOT TOO MUCH DRINK CAFFEINE
One thing you shouldn’t do is drink too much caffeine before your appointment. Because caffeine is a stimulant, it will increase your fight or flight response. This will make you very jumpy or even anxious. Your acupuncturist doesn’t want this but instead, for you to be relaxed and calm. It is especially true if it involves acupuncture needles being inserted into your skin.
