Health Tip of the Week: Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Acupuncture needles are completely different from injection needles used by Western Medicine.  The injection needles used by Western Medicine are generally bigger and the injections are targeted on area such as big blood vessels so they are painful.  Modern acupuncture needles are ultra-fine and quite flexible like hairs.  They are inserted on acupoints where they are at specific locations that are between muscles not big blood vessels, so they are not painful.  When inserted, patient has just a little sensation of soreness, numbness, distension, and or tingling.
